Aliph launches 6 Jawbone Icon headsets

Author: John Pope

We’ve wrote about the Aliph Jawbone Icon headset rumor last week but now we finally have some official news, as Aliph launched officially the Jawbone Icon series, consisting of 6 modes: The Rogue, The Thinker, The Ace, The Bombshell, The Hero and The Catch. These are not different headsets as hardware specs but different as finish and looks.

Even if the Icon series has the smallest sized headsets those are still capable of very good performance thanks to the inclusion of Jawbone’s award winning Noise Assassin noise killer technology. Not only the size went down but also the price which is now 99$.

What makes the Jawbone Icon series truly remarkable is the first Application Store for Bluetooth headsets, called MyTalk, that allows you to install AudioApps and DialApps that basically customize the way Jawbone Icon notifications sounds sound like. You can also customize Jawbone’s multi function button, add voice dialing and voice-to-SMS. We’re not too impressed with the App store but there’s something you’ll like if you own an iPhone: the battery meter for your Jawbone Icon is displayed next to the iPhone own battery meter, so you’ll always know how much freedom you have left before heading up towards a power plug.

As other Jawbone models, the Icon comes with multiple earhooks and earloops so you can use the one you want at a given time. What’s not that good is the small size of the Jawbone Icon that makes it feel less secure while attached to your ear, but also means you won’t notice it too much.

We have below a short video with the MyTalk app store walk-trough:

UPDATE: The Thinker from the Aliph Icon series is already a bestseller on Amazon for 77.99$.
