If you didn’t already know, Novero is a premium bluetooth accessories manufacturer and this is something you see from beginning, when you open the case and find a stylish brushed aluminum speakerphone: TheTalkyOne, as it is was called by its ‘father’.

For a few dozen bucks over a hundred you get the best-in-class DSP and the latest in noise reduction and echo cancellation technology, as the manufacturer likes to remind us. Being a speakerphone, TheTalkyOne is meant for portable music listening from your MP3 player, smarphone of any other bluetooth stream coming from any of your devices. Novero TheTalkyOne support the A2DP 1.2 Bluetooth streaming profile, even if frankly you can’t benefit from it too much because the speakerphone doesn’t feature multiple speakers and even if it did, they won’t be too separated from each other, or at least not enough to simulate stereo spatiality.

But TheTalkyOne is more than a bluetooth speakerphone that makes noise, as it can be a good companion while you travel for your cell phone, featuring text-to-speech functionality that makes TheTalkyOne read distinctly text messages and announces the names of callers, if your phone supports it.

Multipoint technology helps pairing two devices simultaneously, very nice if you’re not traveling alone, as calls can be taken from either handset. Go Anywhere is more of a marketing naming, as it refers to broad compatibility of Novero TheTalkyOne with almost all Bluetooth gadgets on market and features a mounting clip that can be attached to almost any sharp edge. If you’re concerned about power consumption you’ll be glad to know the internal battery is good for 180 hours on standby and 15 hours of talk time.

The device is offered in black or white colors and has a microUSB cable for charging from a computer. Additional car chargers can be purchased. Considering the way it looks and the tech it incorporates we say is worth the money.

When you think about bluetooth headsets you don’t necessarily make association with bikers, as the harsh environment from audio standpoint is not suited for any kind of communications. Well, you would be wrong, as Cardo-Rider is one of the bluetooth headsets manufacturers specialized in producing accessories for bikers.

Scala Rider G4 is their latest product, a helmet mounted (with glue-on or clamp mechanism plus in helmet speakers) headset that offers communications between two passengers on the same bike plus two others on a different motorcycle or between three different bikers. All communications are full duplex. And the good news doesn’t stop here: Scala Rider G4 can communicate efficiently on distances up to 1 mile. If you’re the lonely rider type of guy don’t worry, as the headset supports Bluetooth A2DP stereo streaming so you can listen to your own tunes stored on a cell phone or MP3 player.

Scala Rider G4: positions for earphones

If you’re getting bored you can call someone and talk, all without taking your hands off the bike. Scala Rider G4 can also be paired with a GPS receiver so you’ll hear indications directly in your helmet. All those features are possible thanks to the overwhelming number of technologies incorporated by Cardo-Rider: AGC for automatic volume adjustment that takes into consideration the speed you’re driving and environmental noise, PLC is the one that assures optimal sound quality in dense urban areas(from radio waves point of view) and VOX for hands free intercom and voice call communications. For you’re pleasure Cardo also included an FM radio with quick search and 6 channel memory, also voice activated.

Connectivity oprions for Scala Rider G4

For this kind of high end specs expect a high price tag, at around 250$, but don’t be sad, as for your passenger you only need a compatible Cardo Rider headset, not the Scala Rider G4. The conclusion is simple: get the Scala Rider G4 if you’re a mix of riding pleasure and communications freak. We’ll guarantee you that those long trips won’t ever be boring again.

It’s not always a good idea to use the integrated Bluetooth chip inside of your laptop or desktop PC to connect to a bluetooth headset as the performance can be disappointing. The option is to use a dedicated USB adapter like the IOGear GBU421 micro adapter compatible with Bluetooth 2.1 standard. EDR (Extended Data Rate) assures up to three times faster connections plus is A2DP stereo streaming compatible.

Connections can be had at up to 30 feet (it’s a Bluetooth Class 2 device). It doesn’t seem much but it’s enough for regular use as you won’t run of the house and expect to leave the computer at home while jogging for example. The IOGear GBU421 is not good just for wireless streaming as it is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles: Generic Access (GAP), Serial Port (SPP), Dial-Up Networking (DUN), Fax (FAX), LAN Access (LAP), Object Push (OPP), File Transfer (FTP), Headset (HSP), Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Audio/Video Remote Control (AVRCP), Synchronization (SYNCH).

Backward compatibility with Bluetooth 1.1 and 1.2 devices is present you no worries for you. Price is not high and you get a small adapter that you’ll more likely forget in an USB port somewhere.

IOGear GBU421 is a small adapter

There are a lot of people out there with a huge music collection that want to carry it with them whenever they go outside home, and for them the new iPod Touch with just 64 Gigs of internal memory is not enough and that’s why they still use the iPod Classic, a much more potent device when it comes to storage space. The only problem with this choice is that the classic iPod doesn’t have a bluetooth chip inside. For those situations the Jaybird JB-BA-100i Adapter for iPods without Bluetooth was created. It’s a simple bluetooth adapter that connects through your iPod’s port and offers wireless connectivity with a pair of bluetooth headsets.

The compatibility list is pretty long: iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, iPod classic 5G, 5.5G 6G, iPod touch 1G so you’ll pretty much covered with any type of iPod you may have. There’s no need for recharging the adapter as it draws power from your iPod. Effective communication range is 33 feet and needs no pin code to pair with your wireless headset. It’s a little bit on the expensive side, but that’s to be expected with any iPod accessory.

The speaker phone function of your mobile headset is good enough for you to use in crowded places but when using it for thinks like audio conferencing in a large room the small speaker is not enough to make itself heard over everyone chatting so a more powerful device is needed, just like the Spracht AURA mobile hands free Bluetooth speaker.

What makes it good is its versatility, as it can be used with a phone and with a PC (for VoIP calls). It need A2DP audio streaming, but that’s common by now so you won’t have to worry about compatibility. If you don’t have a bluetooth enabled gadget you could just use any device with a normal 3.5 mm audio jack and plug it into the Spracht Aura speaker.

The device features full duplex transmission, so no Walkie-talkie style conversations. Noise and echo cancellation come as a necessity so no high praises here. The internal battery is good for 4 hours, so it will last longer than your own ‘batteries’ at that quarterly meeting. If you need a wireless speaker you have to give Spracht Aura a try.

The earpiece goes into the ear (where else?) and the microphone extension cord is placed close to you mouth.

The Bluetooth wireless receiver/transmitter is placed in the lower side part of the helmet and is connected with a wire to the microphone/earpiece assembly. As an extra feature, you can use the BluetAnt Interphone Kit to talk to other bikers into an area of 490 feet. No more yelling when cruising together.

Do you have to speak while driving? You know then how hard it is to drive and speak to someone at the same time. Imagine how hard this is when you have to drive a motorcycle and speak. Without a special Bluetooth Headset for your helmet is practically impossible.

This is when the Cardo-Rider bluetooth headset for motorcycle helmets comes into action: it’s a special designed Bluetooth accessory to be mounted on your helmet. It has a special microphone with a flexible cord that will go somewhere under your visor. It’s not recommended for fully closed helmets.
