How a Bluetooth headset connection is established

Author: John Pope

Have you ever stopped and thought about how a bluetooth headset connection is established between two devices ? Well, I did and thought of sharing this info with you after I’ve done a little research on Internet:

  • first multiple devices with enabled bluetooth chips are required
  • a bluetooth search is now necessary to find nearby in range devices
  • a connect request follows from the device that performed the search earlier
  • an accept or connect code is provided
  • connection is established on both devices after the code was entered
  • available bluetooth services are listed
  • the users selects the desired service and stars using that service
  • connection goes out after one of the devices disables bluetooth or goes out of range

That’s the short version, that you’ll stumble upon if everything goes as planned. If there are problems they almost for sure have to do with Bluetooth incompatibilities between different standards or software problems if we talk about computers with bluetooth.
